Wyandotte
Large Fowl (3.17+Kg-4.08+Kg) Bantam (1.36Kg-1.7Kg)
These birds originated in America with the silver laced being standardised in 1883. Shortly afterwards it was introduced to England where the lacing and ground colouring was perfected and it was crossed with other breeds to produce the prolific number of colour varieties now available. These docile birds are graceful, balanced yet alert and active. They are very curvaceous birds and even the eggs are rather rounded. They are good layers and broodies; and are also good for meat, though the skin is yellowish so not popular commercially in this country, where white skin is preferred.
