Indian Runner

Duck (1.3Kg-2.3Kg)

Introduced from Malaya by a sea captain returning home to Dumfries. They are prolific layers of relatively large eggs for the size of bird. Upright and active but too heavy to fly so can be restrained by low fencing. The body is normally angled between 50º and 80º but when alert or excited it has an almost perpendicular stance. All domesticated ducks (with the exception of the Muscovy) have originated from the wild Mallard. Note the curly tail on the males.

Main Colours:

Black, Chocolate, Fawn, Mallard, Trout, White.
